THE OUTRIGGER
top of the page
The outrigger also called "va'a" originates from Polynesia.
This boat is developing around the world, and now it is used in the
Somme Bay.
The size : OC-1 (1 person) 7 meters / OC-3 (3 person) 11 meters /
OC-6 (6 person) 13 meters.
The Outrigger is piloted by a "peperou" (someone steers the boat without
braking.
Contrary to a canoe, people never paddle more than ten times on the
same side, but they change the side together when the captain tells
them to do it |
